Ready To Eat Indian Food

Deep Patra

Deep PatraPatra, also known as alu-wadi in Maharashtra makes a nice party appetizer. I love this frozen version for both its taste and ease of serving....just heat in the oven on low and you are set! My only concern is the amount of oil that oozes out when heated. There is a solution though - pat the heated patras in a paper towel before serving.

Verdict; Buy

Available at most Indian Grocery Stores.

Garvi Gujarat's Fried Poha chevad

Garvi Gujarat's Fried Poha Chevada

Ready to Eat Garvi Gujrat Fried Poha ChevadaMy biggest peeve with fried poha chevada packages is the fried poha powder you get at the bottom. This is because the chevada crumbles in transit. This package does not have that problem because the package has air in it so there is an automatic air cushion for the chevada. The chevada tastes very authentic and has peanuts, cashews and raisins. The spicy factor is just right. It is not too mild and not too hot. Loved the taste and slight flavors of saunf and jeera.

Verdict; Buy

Available at most Indian Grocery Stores.

Tasty Bites Madras Lentils

Tasty Bites Madras Lentils Ready to EatThe name Madras Lentils is misleading. The taste of this lentils and beans curry reminded me nothing of the Madras flavors. Having said that, this Lentils preparation reminds me more of "Maakhi Daal'. The taste is awesome. The consistency is little on the thicker side. I added a little water when heating in a pot. These are available at Costco in packets of 4. The contents of one packet are sufficient for two. If you have guests coming over, pour out all the four packets, add a little water according to the desired consistency needed and heat in a pot. Serve it as your own creation.

Verdict: Buy

Available online at Amazon and also in Costco stores.

Patel's Palak Paneer or Cottage Cheese in Spinach Sauce

Patel's Palak Paneer or Cottage Cheese in Spinach Sauce

Patel's Palak Paneer or Cottage Cheese in Spinach SauceI looked at the nice green picture with the fresh white paneer in it, and said to myself there is no way they are going to have that nice color and that good paneer. I was wrong. While the contents of the package don't look as fresh as the picture, the paneer was actually pretty good. The taste of the palak was excellent too. Just right spices, good tasting paneer and the package claims this product is all natural and does not have any preservatives. That is an additional plus.

Verdict: Buy

Real Coconut Water

Real Coconut Water

FrownFrownFrownFrownYell

real coconut waterJust buy a green coconut and drink the water instead of this packaged Real Coconut water. This packaged coconut water does not taste at all like the real thing. It seems like it has sugar added to it and does not have the typical taste or the flavour of the tender coconut..

Verdict: Buy if you are Real Desperate
