I Hate Luv Storys
I Hate Luv Storys - Dee gives this movie a thumbs up.
Ideally this Karan Johar movie has everything going for it. A young peppy cast, upbeat music, slick production and a big banner. Newbie director Punit Malhotra's story, about an assistant director Veer and production designer Simran who work for the most romantic filmmaker (a la Karan Johar) of Indian Film Industry, seems like a cliche. Jay hates luv stories and Simran loves luv stories! Does this story need any more explanation??? Story will be the weak point of this movie, but I wouldn't write off this movie yet. On the positive side, the pairing of Imran Khan & Sonam Kapoor is gorgeous. Imran Khan is suited for this kind of roles. Action flicks don't suit him which is proven by his last 2 duds. Sonam Kapoor has yet to prove her mettle but the casting comes like a breath of fresh air.
The young dynamic duo of Vishal- Shekhar once again churn out a peppy album. The title song "I Hate Luv Storys" is definitely very catchy, not to forget "Bahara" & "Sadka".
If for nothing else I would like to see this movie just to see how the story, with all its references to some of the most romantic flicks of our times, turns out. If you are the mushy romantic type who doesn't mind the occasional mismash and would love to see a romantic chick flick, go out and have fun, I know I will!
