Once upon a time there was a forest called Aranya. In the forest there lived Mr. Eagle. He had no friends and lived alone. One day he met Miss Eagle. “I have no friends and I live all by myself. Will you marry me?” asked Mr. Eagle.
“I will marry you if you can make at least two friends” replied Miss Eagle.
Mr. Eagle set out to make some friends. First he saw a turtle lying on the bank of the river. ”Will you be my friend?” asked Mr. Eagle. “Oh sure, I will be your friend. I live here by the river. We can play in the water and have fun.” Mr. Eagle was happy. He had one friend.
A lion came by to drink water from the river. “Will you be my friend lion?” asked Mr. Eagle to the lion. “Oh sure, I will be your friend. I live in a cave up there” said the lion pointing to the cliffs. Mr. Eagle was very happy. He now had two friends.
He flew down to Miss Eagle and said “I have two friends, the turtle and the lion. Will you marry me?” Miss eagle smiled and said “Yes, I will marry you.”
So, Mr. Eagle and Miss Eagle got married. They soon had two eaglets or baby eagles.
One evening bad guy Shikari and his friend came by and sat under the tree on which the Eagle family lived. They wanted to catch some animals to sell. They had not caught any animals and were very hungry. The eaglets were hungry too since it was their dinner time. The babies chirped “We are hungry. Is it dinner time yet?” “Shhh, don’t make noise, the hunters will hear you” said Mommy Eagle. The hunters heard their chirping and one of them said, “We are in luck. Let’s get these eaglets. You start the fire so the smoke will blind them while I climb on the tree to get them.”
As Shikari started to climb the tree, Mommy Eagle pecked at the man. He could not climb the tree. But the fire was making a lot of smoke and hurt the eaglet's eyes. Mr. Eagle went down to the river collected some water and swooshed over the fire to put it out. But the men, tried to climb and start the fire again and again and again. Mommy eagle and Mr. Eagle soon got tired. “Call Mr. Turtle and Mr. Lion for help,” said Mommy Eagle to Mr. Eagle.
Mr. Eagle went to the river and told Mr. Turtle about Shikari the bad guy. He asked Mr. Turtle to help while he went on to call Mr. Lion. Mr. Turtle went to the tree. “Hey Shikari, come and get me.” The hunters ran after the turtle. The turtle ran to the river and went quickly into the water.
Shikari and his friend could not see where Mr. Turtle had gone. They turned around to go back to the tree to get the eagles. Mr. Turtle came out of the water again and shouted “Come and get me “. Shikari and his friend were getting very tired, "the turtle is playing a trick on us. Let us go back to the tree." Just then Mr. Lion came bounding down the cliffs and gave a loud roar “Roarrrrrrrrrr”. The frightened men ran for their lives leaving the Eagles family, Mr. Lion and Mr. Turtle behind.
