Once upon a time, there lived a bird near a river. He lived on a tree. He spent his time looking for food and building his nest. One day as he was carrying some twigs, he heard someone cry out. “Help! Help!” He looked to his left; he looked to his right but could not find anybody.
He looked up and he looked down. Suddenly, he saw an ant in the water. She was trying to swim. But the water was too deep. The bird quickly picked up a leaf out of his nest and threw it towards the ant. The ant climbed up on the leaf and was saved. “Thank you Bird, you saved my life”, said the ant.
One day a hunter came into the forest. He saw the bird sitting on the tree. He took his bow and arrow and took aim. The ant saw the hunter and knew that he would kill the bird.
She quickly climbed on his foot. Just as the hunter was about to loose his arrow, the ant bit him hard. He lost his aim and the bird was saved. “Thank you Ant, you saved my life”, said the bird and they were friends for ever.
